About the JCPS Health Science Academics Direct Admission Program
Seniors enrolled in the JCPS Health Science Academy Pre-Nursing Pathway program are eligible to apply to the UofL School of Nursing direct admit program. This program guarantees students admitted as first-time freshmen into the lower division nursing program a guaranteed space into the selective upper division portion of the program. One student from each of the qualifying health science programs will be selected by the UofL School of Nursing.
Qualifying Health Science Academies
- Butler High School
- Central High School
- Doss High School
- Moore High School
- Pleasure Ridge Park High School
- Seneca High School
- Valley High School
- Waggener High School
Eligibility to Apply:
- ACT 22 composite; ACT/Math 22 or Accuplacer 263 QRAS/250 Reading
- Minimum 3.0 high school cumulative grade point average (GPA);
- Admitted as a first-time freshman at UofL
Application Requirements:
- An essay of 500 words or fewer describing interest in a career in nursing;
- Letter of recommendation from teacher or high school counselor; and
- All documents submitted by January 10th of student's senior year of high school.
Maintaining Eligibility:
- Maintenance of a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, and a nursing program GPA of 3.0 each academic year.
- No repeats in required science or nursing courses, as defined in the university catalog.
- Compliance with all applicable UofL policies and procedures.
